Pack collection for P7

6th Jan 2021

05/01/21

Dear Parent/Guardian,

I hope you and your family enjoyed a well-earned break over Christmas and are having a good 2021 so far! Here is a note to explain how remote learning will work for Primary 7. Please note: not all classes will use the same method, so I would appreciate if you would read the following thoroughly to understand P7’s procedure.

Remote learning last year was carried out via the Home Learning feature on the school website. This will NOT be happening for this period of time. Everything will be uploaded via Seesaw and sent back via Seesaw for marking. There are a few exceptions to this named below.

For some subjects, we will have prepared a pack of 4 weeks work for parents to collect from the Hall (entrance via playground) on Friday 8th January (10am-2pm). This will be the only time available for the collection of these packs.

Here is a table to explain how activities for subjects will be found:

SUBJECT

ACTIVITY LOCATION

ASSESSMENT

Literacy

1 activity uploaded daily to Seesaw.

Send back via Seesaw for marking.

Numeracy

1 activity uploaded daily to Seesaw.

Send back via Seesaw for marking.

Phonics

Complete 1 activity daily from pack. Spelling tests on Seesaw daily.

Upload pictures of activities via Seesaw for marking. Complete spelling test via Seesaw.

Reading

AR- select books from home or from online Library resource.

Non-AR- complete 1 book from pack per week.

PLEASE COMPLETE STAR READING TEST FIRST

AR- complete quiz via https://ukhosted83.renlearn.co.uk/2235018/

Non-AR- listen to your child read and ask a few questions (sometimes these are printed in the front cover of the book)

Mental Maths

Complete 1 box daily in booklet.

Mark schemes provided for a quick mark at home.

Please note:

  • Responses via Seesaw will only occur during the hours of a school day.
  • Marking of work might be delayed by a day due to the uploading of work etc. Do not panic if work is not marked instantly- all will appear in your child’s folder.
  • You may have extra booklets in your pack. I will advise via Seesaw when to use these and how.
  • If you wish to write on a page instead of an iPad/computer, I would recommend buying a file block and an A4 file to store these for when we are back at school.

I truly hope this period of remote learning is for a very short time. I will be posting daily on Seesaw, trying to keep your child as up to date with their learning as possible. However, I recognise that it can be difficult with parents working and having more children than devices in your house! With that in mind, please complete what is doable with your family needs.

If you have any queries, or just need some support, please do not hesitate to contact me via Seesaw or via bmckenzie712@c2ken.net – I would be more than happy to help!

Thank you in advance for all your support.

  1. McKenzie
