🚢 Full Steam Ahead: P7 Investigates How the Titanic Moved! 🚢
26th Feb 2026
This term, our Primary 7 pupils have been diving into their learning about the Titanic through an exciting hands-on science experiment. As part of our topic, we explored how the famous ship moved through the water and the important role of propellers.
We learned that a propeller is like a rotating fan that pushes against the water to transfer power. This creates thrust, which moves a boat forward. To understand this better, pupils were challenged to design and build their own propellers using corrugated plastic and an elastic band.
They carefully planned their designs before testing them to see which created the most movement. It was fantastic to see the creativity and problem-solving on display as pupils refined their ideas and improved their models.
A brilliant mix of History, Science and Engineering — Well Done P7! 🚢
