A trip to Killymoon Castle

3rd Jun 2026
P4 had a fantastic day visiting Killymoon Castle in Cookstown as part of their World War II topic! The children were absolutely buzzing with excitement as they stepped into the historical setting and got a real taste of what life was like during the 1940s. They explored fascinating artefacts from the era, toured many different rooms in the castle, even venturing down into the cellars. The children got to practise some marching just like soldiers would have at the time. They were thrilled to step inside a real Anderson Shelter, really bringing their World War II lessons to life. To top it all off, Dorothy provided everyone with juice and biscuits in one of the castle’s beautiful grand dining rooms—fancy gold plates included! It was truly a day to remember! Thank you Dorothy and Richard!
